Sandy is an incredibly handsome gentleman with a gentle soul and a heart full of quiet charm. This lovely boy is looking for a calm, understanding indoor-only home where he can safely navigate life at his own pace and enjoy the comforts he loves most — soft beds, peaceful company, and long, luxurious naps.
Sandy has very limited (if any) eyesight, so he can occasionally become a little confused or bump into walls and objects as he explores his surroundings. At night, he may sometimes meow or sound distressed, but with a little reassurance and guidance back to bed, he settles almost immediately and relaxes happily. Once he knows his environment and routine, he takes life in stride — much like a furry little Garfield reincarnated.
In his foster home, Sandy has shown himself to be an independent but affectionate companion. He enjoys simply being near his people, often choosing to nap or lounge quietly in the same room rather than directly on top of you. His perfect day includes sleeping on your bed, gentle chin scratches, and the occasional brush along his back (particularly helpful, as this handsome man sheds quite enthusiastically!).
Sandy would thrive in a quiet home without children or dogs, where sudden loud noises and busy activity are kept to a minimum. He’s not a fan of vacuum cleaners, abrupt sounds, or being disturbed while enjoying one of his many naps.
For someone seeking a calm, low-key companion with a sweet nature and a face impossible not to adore, Sandy will reward your patience and kindness with quiet companionship and endless charm.

Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
