About Tofu
Tofu is a desexed male domestic cat available for adoption in Matraville (Eastern Suburbs, NSW).
Tofu is the kind of cat who makes coming home feel like an event. The moment he hears the door, he's already on his way to meet you, and that enthusiasm doesn't stop there. He is all-in on people: curious, warm, and genuinely delighted by company.
He has a dog-like approach to life that his people tend to adore. He'll follow you from room to room, park himself nearby while you're busy, and find creative ways to let you know he's ready for your attention.
With familiar and new people alike, Tofu is immediately engaged. Guests are greeted with the same warmth as his own people: pats welcomed, play encouraged, napping alongside a near-stranger entirely on the table.
A little about Tofu:
🐾 Announces himself with a head bump when he's ready for cuddles
🐾 Happily indoor-living with a love of a sunny afternoon courtyard session
🐾 Playful and toy-motivated with energy to match a lively household
🐾 Confident and social: unfazed by new people and quick to make friends
🐾 Ready to be the sole pet and full-time star of his next home
Tofu's mornings have a lovely rhythm to them. He'll find you during your morning coffee and settle in close, soaking up the quiet time before the day begins.
His greeting at the end of the day, that sprint to the door, is genuinely one of those small moments that makes a house feel like home.
He is affectionate in a tactile, expressive way. Head bumps are his signature hello, and once he's beside you on the couch, he leans into the connection. He enjoys watching the birds from inside and is happy to spend time in a small outdoor space without any inclination to roam.
Tofu has made it pretty clear he'd prefer to be the star of the show. A home where he doesn't have to share the spotlight is where he'll truly come into his own, and a household with kids aged around 6 and up would suit his social, enthusiastic nature beautifully.
Picture this: a Sunday morning on the couch, Tofu wedged in beside you, one paw resting on your leg, both of you watching the birds outside. That is his idea of a good day.
Tofu is a social, affectionate cat with a lot of love to give. His person is someone who wants to feel genuinely welcomed home every single day.
FAQ
Is Tofu good with children?
Tofu's sociable, confident nature makes him a wonderful companion for older children He enjoys play and interaction and isn't easily rattled by a busy household.
Does Tofu need to be the only pet?
Yes, Tofu does best as the sole pet in the home. He's a cat who loves being the centre of attention, and a home where that's entirely possible is where he'll be happiest.
What's his energy level like day to day?
Tofu has a lovely balance: genuinely playful when he's in the mood, and equally happy to settle in close for a quiet evening. A daily play session keeps him happy and engaged.
Medical notes
Tofu is in good general health and is currently taking a low-dose prescription
of Gabapentin to support him through his current home environment, where he sleeps separately from his people.
This is situational rather than ongoing. Once Tofu is settled in a home where he has access to sleep near his guardian, this need is expected to resolve.
His complete patient history is on file and ready to share with his new guardian's veterinary team when the time comes.

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s guardian—the person who knows them best!
From here, the guardian will be in touch to learn more about you and chat with you about their pet. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
If your home and lifestyle match the pet's needs, the next step will be arranging a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is happy to proceed with a formal adoption.
Following the adoption, change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping, and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on the listing) will be provided.
All pets adopted through Home2Home will require an adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee to be paid. The pet’s guardian will complete the adoption contract with you and provide a link to PetRescue’s secure payment portal for completing the adoption fee payment.
Home2Home currently operates a ‘pay what you choose’ system for cat adoption fees. This means that adopters will be able to choose an adoption fee amount that is suitable for them. All adoption fees are used to support PetRescue's life-saving programs, including Home2Home.
