Skipper is a gentle senior gentleman looking for a calm, loving home where he can settle in at his own pace and enjoy the simple comforts of life.
Timid in new environments, Skipper will need some patience and understanding while he adjusts to unfamiliar surroundings. Once he feels safe, though, his lovely personality begins to shine through. He is incredibly placid, sweet-natured, and enjoys nothing more than finding a warm sunny spot to snooze the day away.
Although not a lap cat, Skipper is very social in his own quiet way. He loves being around his people and will happily join everyone on the couch for TV time, content just to sit nearby and keep you company. Once comfortable, he becomes quite chatty and enjoys gentle pats and affection. He prefers to keep all four paws firmly on the floor but will tolerate being picked up when necessary.
When he has had enough attention, he simply gives subtle signals or quietly removes himself from the situation. As an older gentleman, he enjoys doing his own thing, spending much of the day relaxing before seeking out company when he feels social.
This beautiful senior would thrive in a quiet, understanding home that appreciates the calm companionship only a senior can offer. In return, Skipper will reward his family with gentle company, soft conversations, and a comforting presence by your side.
Medical notes
Skipper does have hyperthyroidism, a common condition in older cats caused by changes to the thyroid gland. His condition is well manageable with lifelong oral medication and regular veterinary care, including blood tests at least twice a year to monitor his health.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
