Yahna The Greyhound

Meet Yahna — a gorgeous senior greyhound with a frosted snoot, gentle soul, and a surprising zest for life’s little adventures.

And the best thing about adopting Yahna is when you take her home, you get two for one! That’s right, Yahna is one half of a bonded pair, along with her equally gorgeous sister Goldie.

This lovely black lady is currently thriving in foster care with her sister and has taken to pet life like she’s been doing it forever. Toilet trained? Absolutely. Sleeps through the night? Like a champion. The only thing you might hear is the occasional soft greyhound snore — honestly, it’s quite soothing once you get used to it.

Yahna is settling beautifully into apartment living and handles all the strange human inventions with ease: lifts, sliding doors, hard floors, confined spaces… no problem at all. She can also happily spend a few hours home alone without any signs of separation anxiety. Independent, mature, and drama-free — we love to see it.

She’s learning outdoor stairs with a little encouragement and travels well in the car, although she does appreciate a helping hand getting in. After all, a lady should never have to launch herself into a vehicle.

Yahna absolutely loves her walks, and this is where her playful side shines. The moment the lead comes out, she transforms from elegant retiree into delighted goofball. Once out and about, she walks beautifully on lead and has shown lovely manners around other dogs. Big dogs, little dogs — Yahna is happy to make friends with them all.

Yahna has also shown calm neutral behaviour around cats during assessment and may suit a home with a cat after slow gradual introductions.

One of her newest discoveries is the ocean, and she is completely enchanted by it. Watching Yahna experience the beach is pure joy — equal parts wonder, excitement, and “What IS this magical giant puddle?”

Yahna would suit a calm home with children over 5 who understand that settling into retirement takes a little patience, kindness, and plenty of naps.

So if you’re looking for a couple of Golden Girls to share quiet days, leisurely strolls, and the occasional seaside adventure, Yahna and Goldie may just be your perfect match.

All hounds are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm (including heartworm) treated. The adoption fee includes our Adopter Kit containing a martingale collar, leash, muzzle and useful information to help you get your new hound settled in.
