About Mateo - 3 Year Old French Bulldog
Meet Mateo, or as he’s affectionately known here, “Potato” a solid 3-year-old Isabella French Bulldog with a calm nature and a quietly endearing personality.
Potato absolutely adores people and naturally gravitates towards being close to his humans. He’ll happily follow you from room to room, content just being nearby, before settling in for a nap wherever you are. He has that classic Frenchie charm paired with a stubborn streak, so he does best with someone who can provide clear, consistent boundaries. He’s clever, very smart, and already knows a range of commands, but like most Frenchies, he’ll test the limits if he thinks he can get away with it especially when his cuteness works so well in his favour.
He enjoys pottering around the yard and finding the perfect sunny spot to stretch out. Walks are something he genuinely loves, but he only really has one speed fast so he needs someone mindful to slow him down and give him breaks so he doesn’t overdo it. He also enjoys the car and is always keen to be included in whatever you’re doing.
At home, Mateo is beautifully settled. He is house trained, sleeps soundly through the night in his crate with the door open, and isn’t demanding in any way. He’s just as happy spending time outside on his own as he is being with you, but will always greet you with genuine excitement when you return. He loves his bed, a good belly rub (rewarded with his signature gravelly groans), and isn’t shy about snoring like a true Frenchie.
He’s a calm, steady boy who is not aggressive in any way and rarely makes a sound beyond his snoring and happy little groans. He’s confident in his environment, not bothered by loud noises, and takes life in his stride. He eats well without being overly food-driven, although he does enjoy the occasional treat and he has a funny love for the hose that keeps things entertaining.
Mateo would suit a calm, relaxed home where he can move between indoors and outdoors and be part of the daily rhythm. He needs to be the only dog in the home and is not suited to living with other pets. Due to his solid build and strength, he’s best suited to a home with older children (10 years and up), as he may accidentally knock over younger kids.
Experience with bulldogs would be ideal, but more importantly, he needs someone confident who can provide structure, consistency, and clear boundaries.
He doesn’t ask for much just love, consistency, and someone who understands that while he’s easy going, he still benefits from structure.
He’s a very special boy with a beautiful temperament, and in the right home, he’ll bring a lot of joy, companionship, and plenty of personality.
