Hi friends, I'm Delilah!

I’m a sweet, affectionate girl with a huge heart and an even bigger love for my people. My friend Jasper and I were left sitting on death row in a council pound until Off The Chain saved us just in time. Since then, I’ve receive that 'OTC TLC', made a lot of new friends, and now it's time for me to find a permanent place where I can live out my golden years in peace.

I’ve been through a lot in life already. When I arrived in rescue, I was overweight and had painful rotten teeth and several tumours that were rupturing, causing me even more pain. Thankfully, the rescue quickly got me all the veterinary care I needed and I’m feeling like a completely different girl now!

These days, my favourite things are simple:
• Couch cuddles
• Following my humans around the house
• Car rides
• Snacks
• Kids
• Sleeping under the doona like I pay rent here

I know basic commands like sit, lay down and stop, and I’m even learning to shake. I travel beautifully in the car, come when called, and generally settle really nicely into home life with calm guidance and consistency. I absolutely adore children and currently live with several. The kids can confidently walk me on leash, help feed me dinner, and set up my enrichment toys and puzzle bowls for me. If there’s a family movie night happening, you can safely assume I’ll already be stretched out on the couch waiting.

I’m very much an inside dog and happiest being included in daily life with my people. Watering the garden? I’ll help. Picking up takeaway? Throw me in the back seat, I’m keen. Bedtime? I’d quite happily sleep beside the kids and protect them from any suspicious boogieman activity.

I’ve lived with several dogs while in rescue. While I can get along well with other dogs, I don’t particularly enjoy chaotic or reactive dogs. With calm, confident dogs who respect boundaries, I usually settle in well with time. Slow introductions are important for me. I came into rescue with Jasper, and while we’re good friends, we are not bonded and both quite confident and independent from each other- so the rescue is open to us being adopted separately into the right homes.

I can also live with cats, although I think they’re interesting and may occasionally chase them. Any potential cat housemates should be dog-savvy and have a confident, experienced owner to supervise us.

One important thing to know about me is that I am an opportunistic digger, so secure fencing without gaps at the bottom is a must. I’m not suited to flimsy or poorly secured yards. That typical staffy nose will get me into mischief if you let it. That said, I have shown no real signs of separation anxiety, and just chill out in the laundry on my bed with the other dogs when my carers go out.

More than anything, I’m looking for a home where I’ll be included, loved, mentally stimulated, and safe. I’m not asking for perfection. I just want a family who wants a loyal companion beside them through all the little everyday moments.
