Hi, I’m Harley, a loyal, affectionate boy who just wants to belong to someone.
I’ve grown up as an outdoor dog, but since coming into foster care I’ve had some indoor time — and I have to say, I love being part of the family. It can get a bit lonely outside on your own, so I’d really love a home where I can share more of life with my people. I can assure you I'm house-trained, too.
I’m extremely social and very people-focused. I adore children. I even visited the Grades 2 and 3 children at the local school not that long ago. After my initial excitement of “wow, look at all these kids!”, I settled beautifully, lay on my back and soaked up all the belly rubs. That’s me in a nutshell — friendly, gentle, and happy to be wherever the people are.
I’m also great on the lead. I might get a little excited at first as I do love being out and about. But once we get going I walk quietly beside you at your pace and sit when you stop. I try so hard to please my person.
I’m currently living with other dogs and puppies, who can be a bit annoying, but they're growing on me. I’d happily live with another friendly dog, but I’d also be just as content soaking up all your attention as your one and only. At heart, I just want to be someone’s companion dog.
I’m calm, loyal, and not one to wander, even if the gate is open. Just know that once you claim me as your dog, I’ll stick by your side and follow you anywhere.

A home where I’m an integral part of the family — not just a shiny black garden ornament. I’d love companionship, inclusion, and someone to share life with. I could live with another friendly dog or happily be your devoted best mate.

Medical notes
I did have a mild tummy rash when I first came into care, likely related to seasonal grasses or the stress of change, but it has responded well to treatment and has now completely resolved.
Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
If you are interested in one of our cats or kittens, please click on the green "Enquire about ...", button, tell us a bit about yourself and the home you can offer the cat, and one of our volunteers will be in touch.
