About Paddy
Meet Paddy, a sensitive and timid little boy who’s looking for a patient and understanding home to help him feel safe in the world.
Paddy is a 6-year-old Maltese Shih Tzu who was surrendered with his brother, Murphy. They share a close bond and could be adopted together, but Paddy may also do well on his own with the right support and environment.
When he came into care, Paddy had a severely matted coat, but after some much-needed grooming, he’s now feeling much more comfortable. Overall, he appears to be in good health.
Paddy is the more anxious and reserved of the two brothers. He likely lived a very sheltered indoor life and doesn’t seem to have had much exposure to the outside world. New environments, sounds, and experiences can be overwhelming for him, and he currently does not walk on a lead. He may panic or shut down when faced with unfamiliar situations, so he’ll need a calm, patient adopter who is committed to helping him build confidence slowly and gently.
While he may take longer to adjust, Paddy has the potential to thrive with time, routine, and trust. Once he feels safe, his personality will begin to shine through.
Paddy would do best in:
A quiet, low-stimulation home
An experienced and patient adopter
A predictable routine to help him feel secure
A gentle dog companion or playmate, introduced carefully and at his pace
A confident but calm canine friend could really help Paddy learn by example and feel more at ease, but introductions should be slow and thoughtful to set him up for success.
Paddy is not a dog who will adjust overnight — he’ll need time, understanding, and kindness. But for the right person, helping Paddy come out of his shell will be an incredibly rewarding journey.
If you have a peaceful home and a big heart for shy dogs, Paddy is waiting to find someone who will give him the chance he deserves. 🐶💙
