About Nipper
Introducing Nipper!
Nipper is a Mini Foxie born 20th March 2025.
Don't let Nipper's name fool you, he's an incredibly gentle boy who hasn't shown any signs of nipping since being with us.
Sweet little Nipper was brought into the facility as a stray. While he was microchipped, when we spoke to his owner they told staff "he's not worth the $300 & something to get him out". When we contacted his breeder to see if they could come to collect him, they didn't believe their existing dogs would accept another into their pack & surrendered him for rehoming.
Since being at the facility Nipper has been an incredibly sweet boy. While he can be a little shy, he's very affectionate and stands on his back feet to get closer to you for kisses & cuddles. He seems interested in toys, but is a little unsure about what to do with them. He mostly walks well on lead, but does get a little shy at times and needs some encouragement to keep going. His new family will need to be patient & gentle with him while he learns the world is a safe & fun place to be.
Nipper tested quite well with other dogs. He was very interested & excited to meet a female puppy. He was climbing all over her then happily moved his focus to his handler. He seemed excited to meet a calm female Greyhound and gave her a few little kisses & a tail wag. When meeting a larger, more boisterous dog however, he did become very still and uncomfortable. While there was no aggression whatsoever, it was very clear that he prefers the company of calmer dogs. We believe Nipper could be suitable to live with another dog, or to be the spoint only "child" at home. If you have a gentle, friendly dog we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Nipper was mostly unfazed by cats & pocket pets.. he might have been a little scared of our facility cat, but Polly has that affect on everyone. We believe Nipper could be suitable to live with small animals, if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
He still has so much to learn about the world and life and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. Nipper will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.
Nipper has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety since being at the facility.

Nipper's adoption fee is $700 & includes his desexing, vaccination and lifetime registration. He is also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Nipper is currently located in East Maitland.

If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
