About Tubby
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT FLY OUR ANIMALS WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Tubby
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Cavoodle x Spitz
Cavoodle is a cross between the Poodle and Cavalier King Charles – two very different breeds. Generally they are good family pets that can live in harmony with other pets. They are lively and affectionate and love the attention of their guardians.
The Spitz is a breed group which has several breeds in the group but they are generally known for their intelligence, independence and sometimes stubborn natures.

ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, eager to please, friendly and outgoing! She’s an absolute sweetheart who loves affection from her people. This is what her foster carer says about her:
I am a bit of an attention seeker; I love to be beside my human and be as close to them as possible. When my foster carer allows me to cuddle up to them, I will often sit on their lap and bury/rub my head into their chest- a bit like a cat! I am quite jealous, so if another dog gets any attention, I will force my way between them for attention, I can be quite persistent with that. I eat slowly and like to take my time, I prefer to be left in peace so that I can focus on chewing my food, if I eat beside other dogs or with people around, I eat quickly and can choke on my food. When I get excited, I do heaps of spins and bounce like a rabbit! When I am at home, I will follow my human around and not be any further than a few meters from them. When I am out of the house, I turn my hearing off and I am off in my own direction, so I like to explore on my long lead. I can be unsure on walks, traffic makes me flinch, but I have been improving loads with daily exposure to walks with my foster carer. I can make some noises when I encounter other dogs, sometimes I bark, sometimes I grunt and I rarely growl. I’m just excited and learning that I am not the only dog in the world. I have walked past people and children, and I am not bothered by them. My ideal home would be either with a single person, or a family with older children who will keep me active - I am full of energy, but I love my sleep! I will require regular grooming, specifically daily brushes to stop my face and tail matting.
OTHER ANIMALS: Tubby gets on well with other dogs after gentle introduction but as she loves to have the attention on her, would probably prefer to be the only dog in her new home as long as she had plenty of people company. She has lived with a cat so may be able to do so again but would prefer a dog only home.
GENERAL INFO: Tubby has improved greatly on the lead but may need some reminders with her new owner as she pulls but not strongly. Tubby is housetrained and rarely barks. She travels well in the car and gets a little afraid of traffic when out on walks, but this is improving as she gets more exposure. She knows a few commands and needs to work on her recall. Tubby has a medium energy level and loves her walks.
MEDICAL NOTES: For an older dog Tubby is in good shape although she has tired joints. We are adding 4Cyte to her food to support her. Her new owner will need to continue to support her joint care for her future agility and wellbeing.
ESSENTIALS for Tubby:
** A loving home with someone who can be with her for most of the day or can take her with them when they go out
** She will need daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. A home that is willing to involve her in daily activities would be ideal for her.
** Tubby needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore
** Tubby needs to be allowed inside the home and to sleep inside at night – she loves to be with her human.
Tubby has not lived with children but could live with dog-savvy teenagers who will understand that being an older dog she would not appreciate over handling and would need her boundaries respected. She would be lovely for active retirees.
If Tubby sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
