About D1117 Rio
Rio is an incredibly affectionate female Kelpie cross with a heart full of love. Whilst she enjoys a nice long daily walk, she is very relaxed for an energetic breed. She’s initially a little reserved with strangers, but once you show her some love, her confidence shines through. Rio has mastered the art of turning every interaction into an opportunity for a cuddle, and she gives cuddles just as good as she gets them!
Rio is house trained and will come and gently let you know when she would like to go out.
On walks, Rio likes to set the pace at a leisurely speed, she does not pull and responds to commands. On occasions, she has jumped at other dogs, bush turkeys and birds. More recently, using treats and hugs as a reward, and a stern “leave” command, she has quickly learnt to ignore other animals and pay attention to the person leading her, yet she still needs you to talk her past the distraction. Rio travels comfortably in the car and loves an open window.
She is truly a gentle, loving companion, with impeccable manners, who just wants to hug and make you happy. She’s great with kids and loves gentle play, so she’ll fit right into a family environment.
This clever girl would thrive with a family who can give her love, exercise, mental stimulation and enrichment she deserves. Like many intelligent working breeds, Rio will not only benefit from but thrive on ongoing training to help her continue to grow into the best version of herself. She seems happiest when she is being challenged and taught something new.
If you’re looking for a loyal, well behaved, fun-loving companion to share your adventures and everyday moments, Rio might just be the one for you.”
