About Anakin
Anakin is a desexed male Domestic Shorthair available for adoption in Coburg (Inner North, VIC).
Anakin is a calm, gentle cat who has spent his days being someone's most loyal companion. He's the kind of cat who makes a home feel warmer just by being in it: present, affectionate, and quietly devoted to the people he loves.
With familiar people, Anakin is wonderfully at ease. He stays close, enjoys company, and has a lovely habit of curling up nearby and purring his way through an evening. He's been described as humble and loyal, and that really does sum him up.
A little about Anakin:
🐾 Settles beautifully with a calm household and children aged around 6 and up
🐾 Has shown he can get along well with dogs when given time to adjust at his own pace
🐾 Affectionate and tactile: loves a cuddle and makes his comfort known through purring
🐾 Independent enough to enjoy quiet afternoons, but happiest when his people are home
🐾 An indoor cat who thrives with window access to watch the world go by
Anakin's days have a gentle rhythm. He'll spend the sunny hours keeping an eye on the street from his favourite window perch, then ramp up for a play session in the afternoon before settling in for a long, contented sleep.
The detail that says everything about him: every single time his guardian came home, he would head to the door to say hello. Not a frantic greeting, just a quiet and consistent one. He noticed. He showed up. He always does.
With new people, Anakin takes his time. He observes from a comfortable distance, and when he decides someone is worth engaging with, he comes around with genuine warmth. Those who let him set the pace tend to find themselves with a loyal, affectionate companion who makes it clear he's chosen them.
Anakin would suit a calm household where the pace is steady, and there's space for him to feel settled. He'd be a wonderful fit for a family with school-aged kids, or an adult household looking for a cat with real presence and quiet loyalty.
He's an indoor cat, so good window access, places to perch, and a bit of afternoon play will keep him happy and engaged.
Coming home to a cat who meets you at the door every single day, calm and pleased to see you, is one of the quiet joys of life with Anakin.
He has a great deal of loyalty and affection to give, and he's looking for a home where he can simply be himself.
FAQ
Is he good with kids?
Anakin is well suited to a home with children who know how to give a cat a little space to come to them. He's calm and gentle, which pairs really nicely with that kind of interaction.
Can he live with a dog?
He has lived alongside a dog before, and the relationship worked well once they'd had time to find their rhythm. A calm, cat-respectful dog would likely be a good fit.
What does a typical day with Anakin look like?
He's wonderfully self-sufficient during the day: window watching, a nap or two, and some afternoon play. Come evening, he's close to his person and very happy about it.
How will I know when he's comfortable with me?
He'll come to you. Anakin is a cat who observes first and engages when he's ready, and when that moment comes, it feels genuine. Purring, proximity, and a tendency to stay nearby are all good signs you've made his list.

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s guardian—the person who knows them best!
From here, the guardian will be in touch to learn more about you and chat with you about their pet. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
If your home and lifestyle match the pet's needs, the next step will be arranging a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is happy to proceed with a formal adoption.
Following the adoption, change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping, and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on the listing) will be provided.
All pets adopted through Home2Home will require an adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee to be paid. The pet’s guardian will complete the adoption contract with you and provide a link to PetRescue’s secure payment portal for completing the adoption fee payment.
Home2Home currently operates a ‘pay what you choose’ system for cat adoption fees. This means that adopters will be able to choose an adoption fee amount that is suitable for them. All adoption fees are used to support PetRescue's life-saving programs, including Home2Home.
