About George
Meet George, a charming and loveable fellow with a quiet demeanour and gentlemanly vibes! George has his own gentle ways of seeking attention - a soft 'woof' combined with a cheeky tail wag is often his polite request for some pats and cuddles. If he feels particularly adventurous, you might be greeted with his big teeth-chatters or even a playful chomp. George has occasional short bursts of energy where he enjoys tossing a toy or playfully chewing on a plushie.
George's perfect day would include a leisurely start with a good, long snooze in a sunlit spot, followed by a car ride with the opportunity to revel in the sea breeze, and a calm beach visit for a stroll and gallop through the waves. Finishing the day with a nice, quiet, long snooze and a roast chicken dinner would suit him just fine!
George thrives in a chilled, quiet environment and would flourish as the only dog in a home where humans are around frequently, providing him with the comfort of companionship he holds dear. Alternatively, he loves sharing his downtime on a couch or beanbag with a fellow canine companion, preferably another chill greyhound like himself. George does experience anxiety, so a steady, tranquil home without too many surprises would suit him best. A house with a big window for sunbathing and plenty of space for relaxing would make for his ideal sanctuary.
Medical notes
Just like most older greyhounds, George has minor medical conditions that are currently well managed. We will share more information on his situation during the application process.
Adoption details
STEP 1 – ENQUIRE & EOI FORM:
greytgreys.org/adopt/apply
If the greyhound you have applied for is unavailable or unsuitable, we can match you with a suitable greyhound. We may have a hound in foster care who might be well suited to your family.
STEP 2 – LET'S CHAT:
We'll phone you to discuss suitability, clarify any points of your application and chat process and next steps.
STEP 3 – HOUSE CHECK & MEET + GREET:
We'll come to you! The meet + greet is conducted at the same time that a house check is carried out. The meet + greet is the day that your newly adopted greyhound will be able to stay on with you.
Our adoption fee is $375.00 and must be paid before the meet + greet, and prior to starting your 3 week trial. Support from our team is freely available. If you have any issues, we urge you to contact us to try and work through them, as all rescue greyhounds have some period of adjustment.
If after the 3 week trial, you feel that you need to return the greyhound, we will refund your adoption fee (less a $50 administration fee), upon return of the dog and all paperwork and other items that the dog was adopted with.
All of our hounds are adopted out with the following:
> Collar, lead & coat
> Certificate of sterilisation & vaccination
> Flea & worm treated
> Care information for your newly adopted greyhound
> Access to our private Facebook page for foster carers, volunteers and adopters of our hounds. A community with invaluable advice and support!
