About Cosmo
🐾 Meet Cosmo 🌟
1‑Year‑Old German Shepherd | Male
💛 About Cosmo
Cosmo is a friendly and energetic young dog who is still learning what it means to be safe and cared for. Despite his rough start, he has shown a resilient and gentle nature and is eager to connect with people who give him time and kindness.
He typifies the German Shepherd breed with his intelligence and alertness, and he enjoys having something to do-whether that's going for walks, learning new skills, or simply being near his people.
🧠 Personality & Behavior
Affectionate and people‑oriented once he feels comfortable
Smart and eager to learn, making him a great training candidate
Energetic, with the need for regular exercise and mental stimulation
Would thrive with structure, routine, and positive reinforcement
As a young dog, Cosmo is still developing his confidence and manners, so ongoing training will help him become the best companion he can be.
🏡 Ideal Home
Cosmo would do best in a home that:
Has experience with, or is willing to learn about, large working breeds
Can provide daily exercise and enrichment
Is committed to ongoing training and socialisation
Offers patience, love, and a secure environment
He has all the makings of a loyal best friend for the right family.
To book a meet and greet with Cosmo, please contact the BARC team by phone or email: 03 5441 2209, barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au Due to the high volume of emails received, inquiries requesting a specific appointment, and including phone contact details, will receive a prioritised response over generic applications to meet an animal.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
