Meet Cutie Pie Anchovy

Anchovy had a heartbreaking start to life, spending his early days in a puppy farm confined to a small cage with other dogs. Despite this, he has shown resilience and has made amazing progress in foster care, thanks to the love of his foster humans and his wonderful mentor doggos.

Dogs are Anchovy’s safe place. He absolutely adores his canine companions—following them from room to room, copying their behaviour, and finding comfort in their presence. Because of this, he’ll need a confident resident dog in his forever home to help him feel secure and continue learning about the world.

Anchovy is still building trust with humans, but he’s come such a long way. He even visited a Human school where, despite being timid, he accepted pats, cuddles, and attention from people of all ages, quietly winning over everyone he met.

He currently feels safest approaching people who are sitting down, as standing over him can still be a bit scary. When unsure, he may retreat to a cozy “safe spot” like under a coffee table. But with his trusted foster carer, Anchovy shows just how much love he has to give and seeks affection by jumping onto their knee—his future family will be lucky to earn that same trust.

Anchovy is toilet trained and sleeps soundly in his crate. He enjoys car rides, on lead walks, chew toys, and his favourite activity is playtime with his doggy friends. He’s still learning to engage with humans during training, but he cleverly learns by watching other dogs and understands “wait" and "sit".

Anchovy is looking for a calm, patient home with someone who understands timid or ex–puppy farm dogs. With kindness, consistency, and time, he will continue to blossom. His ideal home would have someone who is committed to training and helping him learn about the world, as well as a friendly, well-adjusted and trained dog to guide him.
