About Maple Needs Your Help 😿
Maple was supposed to be celebrating a milestone. At just a few months old, this sweet, spunky kitten went in for her routine desexing surgery – a brave "big girl" step toward a long and healthy life. But instead of coming home to her favourite feather toy and a warm bed, Maple is currently fighting for every single breath in an oxygen tank.
What Happened to Maple? 😿
Shortly after her surgery, Maple developed a life-threatening condition called Aspiration Pneumonia.
In simple terms, this occurs when stomach contents or fluids are inhaled into the lungs during or after anaesthesia. For a kitten as small as Maple, this is a medical emergency. Instead of air, her tiny lungs became filled with fluid and bacteria, leading to a severe infection that has made breathing an exhausting, uphill battle.
The Fight for Recovery 🚑
Maple has been rushed to the emergency vet, where she is currently receiving round-the-clock intensive care. To give her a fighting chance, she is relying on:
Oxygen Therapy: To ensure her organs get the air they need while her lungs heal.
IV Fluids & Antibiotics: To fight the aggressive infection and keep her hydrated.
Constant Monitoring: A dedicated team of vets is working 24/7 to break her stubborn fever and encourage her to take her first bites of food.

The cost of saving a life this small is, unfortunately, very large. Between the specialised oxygen housing and the intensive nursing care, Maple’s medical bills have already climbed to $2,000.

If interested in a cat that is available for adoption, we require you to fill out an adoption application, and one of our lovely foster carers will give you a call to organise a time for a meet and greet.
Please note: As we are all volunteers with limited time up our sleeves, we prefer all interested potential adopters to fill out an application, rather than send an enquiry, as this helps us know more about you and what you are after, and saves us all a lot of time!
