About Keira
Gorgeous Keira is two girls. One is the energetic party girl that loves to play with her humans and toys in the safety and security of her home. The other is the shy girl who can be a little unsure of the world outside.
Keira is a sweet affectionate and engaging girl who loves her cuddles and special scratches. She will do a delighted dance after a good cuddle. She loves her toys, both soft squeakies and hard chew toys. Keira will delight in running the length of house with her favourite newly discovered toy. She will need a couple of toy boxes at opposite ends of the house as she lovey to ferry them from the front to the back. She will also drag her bedding to the other end of the home. Taking great delight if being caught in the act.
You may need to keep a few precious things out of reach like the remote control as she may mistake that for a toy too.
In her foster care, Keira gets along very well with her greyhound housemates, a six year old male and a four year old female.
She has enjoyed playing with the female, often doing a zoomie circuit together.
Keira happily snoozes the work day without human company as she had her foster mates home with her. She will get super excited when you to get home from work and eager to get her cuddles. She had up to three hours home alone without her greyhound friends without too much drama so there is the potential as an only dog for a few hours.
Keira wants to be a brave girl but the world outside is still a bit of a challenge. She will go out for her two walks but is a little wary of meeting new people and dogs. She will need humans with some patience and can maybe substitute of some walks with play at home or…. a car ride ! Keira loves to hang out in the car. If she can’t be at home, the security of the car is a good substitute .
She has been to two of our Farmers Market stalls and spent most of the day watching from the car. She has happy to share her car with canine and human visitors.
Keira, is a delicious shiny and elegant girl. In the safety of her home she is happy and delights with interacting with her humans and will welcome visitors. She will need a yard as she is a bit too nervous to toilet on her walks. Kiera would be fine quiet home or a busy family home. Keira will need a fit human to walk her as she can be a little strong on lead when unsure of her surroundings.
Keira is also more suited to a quieter area, she’s not your inner city cafe girl.

We’d love to help you find your greyhound match!
To get started, we’ll ask for a bit of information about your home and lifestyle on our application form. This helps us make sure we match you with a dog that suits your household and sets both of you up for success.
Many greyhounds come from racing kennels where they’re used to having other dogs around. Some can struggle being left completely alone, which can lead to signs of separation anxiety like barking or chewing.
Because of this, we usually look to rehome greyhounds into homes where they’ll have company - either human or canine - and not be left alone for more than four hours on a regular basis. If that’s not your setup right now, don’t worry as we’re happy to chat about options such as dog walkers, doggy daycare, or taking your greyhound to work.
Our Adoption Checklist:
To be considered for adoption, we ask that you have:
A secure, fully fenced yard (minimum height around hip height)
A home where the dog is allowed to sleep inside at night
A routine that doesn’t leave the dog home alone regularly for long periods (more than 4 hours) without people or another dog for company
