About Austin
Austin is a desexed male domestic shorthair available for adoption in Chipping Norton (South Western Sydney, NSW).
Austin is a cat who has never met a stranger. Friendly, warm, and thoroughly people-obsessed, he brings a big personality into every room and absolutely no hesitation about showing it.
He moves through life like someone who knows exactly how loveable he is, and leans into it fully.
A little about Austin:
🐾 He does air biscuits (kneading) when he's happy or being cuddled, which he is, often.
🐾 He has a deep, loud purr that you'll hear from across the room.
🐾 He is vocal about his needs, food and attention, especially.
🐾 He will sniff anything a human is eating, no exceptions.
🐾 He is genuinely social with new people, no warming-up period required.
Austin tends to greet the morning with purpose. You'll find him at the kitchen bench, ready and vocal about breakfast, or trailing you through the flat to make sure you haven't forgotten he exists.
Afternoons are for windowsill napping and lap-claiming, and by evening, he's ready to be wherever you are.
He communicates clearly about what he wants, which makes him easy to read and genuinely fun to live with. That purr kicks in quickly, and it is not quiet.
He shows affection by flopping directly into laps and shoving his snout into whatever you're doing. The kneading starts when the cuddles are good, and once he's settled on you, he's in no hurry to move.
With new people, Austin skips the assessment phase entirely. He's the cat who introduces himself at the door and is ready for pats before the visitor has taken their shoes off.
Austin brings a lot of warmth to a household, and he makes it genuinely easy to love him back. He thrives with regular company, and a home with a feline companion would be a lovely addition for him.
He does best indoors and in a dog-free home, and is well-suited to apartment living.
Picture this: you sit down on the couch after dinner, and before you've even settled, Austin is already there, purring loudly, kneading slowly, and completely certain this is exactly where he belongs.
If you're someone who loves a responsive, present, and utterly devoted cat, Austin already knows you're his person.
FAQ
Is Austin good with children?
Yes, and he tends to do well with kids who are happy to engage with him. He is affectionate, social, and genuinely enjoys people, so a household with active, interested kids is a great fit.
Is Austin okay being left alone during the day?
Austin loves company and is happiest when people are home regularly. If your household has someone around most of the time, or if he has a feline companion to keep him company, he'll settle in well.
What's he like when guests come over?
He's that cat. New people are immediately interesting to him, and he tends to make himself known straight away. Guests usually end up with Austin on their lap before they've had a chance to sit down properly.

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s guardian—the person who knows them best!
From here, the guardian will be in touch to learn more about you and chat with you about their pet. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
If your home and lifestyle match the pet's needs, the next step will be arranging a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is happy to proceed with a formal adoption.
Following the adoption, change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping, and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on the listing) will be provided.
All pets adopted through Home2Home will require an adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee to be paid. The pet’s guardian will complete the adoption contract with you and provide a link to PetRescue’s secure payment portal for completing the adoption fee payment.
Home2Home currently operates a ‘pay what you choose’ system for cat adoption fees. This means that adopters will be able to choose an adoption fee amount that is suitable for them. All adoption fees are used to support PetRescue's life-saving programs, including Home2Home.
