Meet Gentle George, a big-hearted, affectionate boy who absolutely adores his humans. George is incredibly in tune with his people and happiest calmly hanging out by your side, soaking up cuddles, pats and conversation. He has his playful moments too, with the occasional garden zoomie, a stash of favourite toys and a game of tug-o-war, before happily settling back down.

George would love a house with a garden for those zoomies and sniffing adventures. He is perfectly happy being the only dog in the home, as humans are definitely his favourite company! He enjoys socialising with other dogs too and, since settling into a stable foster home, has done wonderfully, even comfortably joining a gathering of around 30 greyhounds.

George has made huge progress with being left at home. He may initially give a few “aroooohs” when his person heads out, but settles quickly and then spends his time snoozing. A predictable routine and a settled forever home should help him continue building confidence. He could be an especially lovely match for someone who works from home, is newly retired or simply spends plenty of time at home.

Around the house, George is a champion. He is fully toilet trained, sleeps through the night and will clearly let you know when he needs to go out. He can also independently use a dog door. He loves children, although his preference for a calmer lifestyle means a quieter family home would suit him beautifully.

Walks with George are a dream. He strolls calmly alongside you without pulling and naturally adjusts to your pace. He loves getting out for a good walk and, of course, taking his time for some important exploratory sniffing.

His one cheeky habit? George is an accomplished counter-surfer, so unattended snacks may mysteriously disappear! Keep the bacon butty safely out of reach and he’ll happily repay you with plenty of affection.

George has had a few changes in his life and what he really needs now is something wonderfully simple: stability, kindness and his very own person to love. He’s a gentle, cuddly, affectionate boy with a very big heart, ready to settle in and enjoy the good life with someone who loves having a loyal companion by their side. 💙
