About Wilbur
Wilbur is looking for the right forever home or foster to adopt home or foster home.
Wilbur requires the following in his new home or foster home:
- A desexed dog living in the home that is of similar size and doesn’t play too rough.
- No children under 12 living in the home.
- Needs to be kept on lead in unfenced areas.
- Daily sniff walks.
- To have the option to be inside with the family when they are home and to sleep at night.
- A securely fenced yard, not suited to living in an apartment or unit.
- No other animals except for another dog for him to play with.
Wilbur loves his people, it may take a little time for him to feel comfortable, but once he realises your hands are for patting he is your new best friend. He loves to play chase with other dogs that aren’t too rough, and are of similar sizes. He can be a little nervous around children, but if the children are calm and quiet he enjoys their pats.
Wilbur enjoys outings in the car, he can be a bit wiggly when tethered to the seat belt but travels best in a small crate. He enjoys going for daily walks so he can sniff and mark on all the smells. He knows the commands “sit, drop”, and he waits for his food. Recall is a work in progress and he would need to stay on a lead in areas that aren’t fenced, the use of a long line will still give him the freedom to run and explore with the security he won’t wander off. He may regress a little with his toilet training in a new environment, but with a regular routine and access to outside he will improve.
Wilbur loves to play with other dogs but he will need training to help him learn to share his people when he is sitting on their knee. We are looking for a foster home that will help him learn, we can give training advice.
Wilbur loves his people and wants to have the option of being inside when his people are home, and to sleep during the night. He is happy sleeping in a crate at night but loves to have cuddles in the human's bed.
Some of Wilburs favourite things are, chasing other dogs, going for walks, napping in the sun and having cuddles on the couch with his people
.
Wilbur can not live with cats or small animals like chooks, rabbits etc.

Please note- we do not work on a first in best dressed basis, we assess all applications to choose the home that we believe will best match the animal.
If you believe one of our animals would be a good match for your home please send us a detailed email us with some information about the people and any other animals in your home as well as the type of lifestyle you can offer a new rescue pet.
We are volunteerswho run the rescue around families, paid employment and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require you to travel to meet the animal you are looking to adopt. For dog adoptions, any other dogs in your home musr attend the meet and greet, this enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
We reserve the right to refuse the adoption if we don't believe it's a good match for our animals.
