About Lily
It's a good reminder that what we see in the shelter isn't always the full story. Lily was absolutely terrified in care ... shut down, unsure, and struggling to show her true personality. But given the chance to decompress in a home, she's proven just how different things can be.
In foster, Lily has blossomed into a sweet, affectionate young girl with a non-stop purr, you don't even have to be patting her for it to start. With a little patience (and a tuna Churu or two), she quickly builds trust and shows off her playful, quirky nature. She loves her toys, often popping up into the cutest little "meerkat" stance when she's about to pounce, and balances her playtime with cozy naps and gentle affection.
She's also got a cheeky streak: Lily is a proud collector of "treasures," happily stashing toys and stray clothing under the bed. She's mastered her scratching post, isn't fazed by household noise (even following the vacuum around out of curiosity), and has the sweetest habit of pausing mid-meal to give a little "thank you" with her paws.
While being picked up can still make her a little unsure at first, she is gentle and tolerant and continues to grow more comfortable with time and trust.
Lily would do best as the only cat in the home, where she can feel secure and build a strong bond with her people.
Lily is the perfect example of why we don't judge animals by how they present in the shelter. Some just need that chance to feel safe. Give her a couple of weeks to settle into a home, and she will truly shine, showing you a loving, playful companion with a purr that never stops.
Lily is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Lily - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
