Yoshi | 4yrs 5m | Male | Siberian Husky X
Located Romsey
Sometimes a very special dog comes along, and teaches you special lessons that you weren't even aware you needed.
Meet Yoshi. He came from a very neglectful, difficult situation, meaning he has never learned that humans are good, and what the outside world looks like. When he came out of his nightmare to us, he was a mess. He was matted, terrified, and ready to run and hide. When he arrived to his foster carer, she cried. She was so used to huskies who were pushing boundaries, that this poor, scared little man ripped at her heartstrings.
Over the next few months, Yoshi’s transformation has been immense. He was a star for his grooming, he has learned to take treats from his people's hands, he has become food motivated and loves to play with other dogs.
Let us be clear, Yoshi may not be a 'normal' dog that goes for walks and happily greets people he meets. But his silly, amazing personality has truly blossomed and as such he is ready to transition to a foster to adopt home who will give him the love he deserves.
Yoshi will blossom in a quiet home with a single or couple, who have an existing kind dog or three. At the moment he is living pack life with five other huskies and he does very well. He loves to play, but is very submissive.
Yoshi is crate trained and will go into his crate for food or a treat, and this is where he feels safe to eat his dinner (as he will stop if people or dogs approach) and he will sometimes sleep here by choice. He is currently crated while his foster is out of the house, but he can go either way- he is not destructive however is about 75% toilet trained and may sometimes have an accident if the outside door is shut.
Yoshi can be leashed from his crate and has been a fabulous boy at the vet, and has never shown any aggression. If he is afraid, he may toilet on himself but this is becoming less and less as he is more handled.
He will now happily sit on the couch or dog beds with his friends, and will be called inside by his name if the door is open.
If you're looking for a nice homebody friend, Yoshi could be your guy! He could be trained for walks, but the foster hasn't pushed this as she has space for him to run on property.
Yoshi has shown no prey drive so could potentially live with cats.
Yoshi is a tiny little gremlin, weighing in at only about 14-16kg. He is very short statured, and measures about half the height of his normal male husky siblings. He is quite fluffy and needs regular ear cleaning and grooming. He doesn't LOVE being groomed but tolerates it (but may give you the cold shoulder for a day or two).
It will take a few weeks for Yoshi to become comfortable with his new people, as he is still wary of strangers in the house (he mostly goes to sleep in his crate while people are visiting, but may venture out to give them a sniff) so his new owner should be patient and kind.
It will take a special person, but Yoshi is a special dog- one that only comes along once in a lifetime. If you give him your all, he will give you his trust in return.
