Adoption information
About Mango
Mango requires the following in her new home:
- Someone with experience with Chinese crested dogs.
- People home regularly.
- Patient owners while she gets to know them and any new people she meets.
- A quiet peaceful home without too many visitors.
- Regular dental checks.
- Ongoing training.
- Another small friendly confident desexed dog living in the home
- People home often.
While Mango adores her family and is very affectionate with them, she barks and runs away when visitors arrive and it takes a little while to warm up. She’d be happiest in a quiet, low-traffic home where she can enjoy a peaceful environment without too many visitors. She will happily live with children 12 and up as long they are calm and gentle.
Mango loves to be with her people following them inside and out, and will enjoy cuddles on the couch while you watch TV. She will happily sleep on a doggy bed beside your bed at night, but wouldn’t argue if she was allowed to sleep on her people’s bed.
Along with people Mango enjoys the company of other dogs and will need to live with another desexed dog of similar size that is confident and happy that can help Mango feel more confident.
Mango likes stuffed toys, her favourite are the small ones that she can carry around and take to her bed.
When travelling in the car Mango will sit quietly in her spot throughout the drive but she is nervous and tries to melt into the seat. She needs to be restrained while travelling. Walking on lead is a work in progress for Mango as she is nervous, but she feels more confident when she is walking with a confident dog.
Although Mango’s previous life is unknown, it appears she lived as a bit of a free agent without being taught commands, manners or toilet training . She will need ongoing training with positive rewards. She is learning, stay, down and no. Her new owners will need patience to help teach her to toilet outside, she seems to feel comfortable using puppy pads inside.
Mango likes to be close to her people and would like someone home most of the time, she sometimes whines when she is outside without her people.
We don't know Mango's history, but she is shy, timid and sometimes scared around new people and in new environments and is likely to be ongoing. All inquiries need to included their knowledge of this breed and explain your understanding of their needs.
*PLEASE read the ‘profile’ thoroughly before enquiring in detail.*
*Please only apply if you are ready to meet and adopt this pet now, and if all family members are in support of the adoption.*
Medical notes
Mango has 15 missing teeth, the vet believes they didn't grow, rather than being extracted/fallen out. Which is common with this breed.
It is recommended for this breed to have dental checks at a minimum yearly if not more frequently. The vet believes Mango will need regular, dental X-rays, scale and polish and she may need possible extractions in the future.
