About Milo
Hello there! I’m Milo, and I’m officially accepting applications for my forever family.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR MILO
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/QA2rwKqJdJvmFsG79
My Ideal Home:
• Familiarity and understanding of my breed traits would be highly valued.
• I’ll need daily exercise — walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy.
• Ongoing training and guidance with basic manners will help me grow into a well-behaved companion.
• I want to be part of the family indoors — not left outside without interaction.
• Secure fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent) is essential to keep me safe.
• I’d love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• A good-quality dry food diet will help support my dental health.
• Regular grooming and brushing will keep me looking and feeling my best.
• Most importantly, I’m looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• I have previously lived with young children.
• Training, training, training — it’s essential that I receive consistent guidance in every aspect of my life so I can become the very best companion as I mature.
Dog Compatibility:
• I need to be the only dog in the home, as I can become jealous, cause fights and may not share my space well. I’m comfortable seeing other dogs while out on walks, but I prefer not to interact closely with them.
Cat / small animal:
• I have a high prey drive, so I’m not suited to homes with cats or small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, or ducks.
My Paw-some Perks:
• I’m highly food motivated, which makes training lots of fun and helps me learn quickly.
• I walk nicely on lead for a young dog, and with daily walks I’ll only keep improving.
• I am housetrained and am used to being allowed indoors as part of the family.
• I’m exuberant and full of beans, always ready for fun and adventure.
• I’m clever, enthusiastic, and would thrive with a family who’ll continue my training and maybe even teach me some cool new tricks.
Training & Support Needs:
• My previous owners have tried to do puppy preschool when I was younger. I had to removed from preschool due to my behaviour towards other dogs. I do know how to stay but I will need help with all my basic manners and life skills. The good news is I love food and toys, which will make positive training lots of fun and rewarding for me.
• Once I’m settled, I can walk nicely, but I may pull if something grabs my attention or if I decide I’d like to head in a different direction. I can also be strong or a bit skittish if startled, so a harness or head halter would really help while I continue my training.
• My recall needs work, as I can sometimes ignore you if I’m distracted — this is something we’ll need to practice together.
• I can be a little bouncy when excited, but consistent training will help me learn calmer behaviours.
• I can be nervous around other dogs and may react if they’re too full-on or reactive towards me. Controlled, positive socialisation experiences will help me build confidence and learn that other dogs aren’t so scary.
• I may show some resource guarding around toys or treats. I will trade happily for something higher in value, and with patience, consistency, and positive training, this is something we can continue to work through together.
Extras:
• At the moment, I need a home with no other dogs. My previous owners say that I can be reactive and may snap as a warning if a dog gets too close. However, with calm, positive socialisation, I can rebuild my confidence and learn that other dogs aren’t frightening.
Please Note: You’ll only be able to meet Milo if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well.
