About Gugu
Meet Gugu, a joyful, toy-collecting superstar with a personality that lights up every room she enters! This playful greyhound has appointed herself the official âcollectorâ of the household, carefully gathering soft toys, squeaky treasures, and anything that smells like her humansâ without causing any damage. Watching her proudly build her little stash is equal parts adorable and entertaining. Gugu absolutely adores people and greets everyone like a long-lost friend, whether out on a walk or following you from room to room at home. Expect enthusiastic welcomes, affectionate lean-ins, and even the charming greyhound âchitterâ when sheâs especially happy.
Gugu is a lively, affectionate girl who thrives on companionship and a bit of daily adventure. She loves her walks, taking time to sniff and explore, and would happily join you for trips to the park or your local coffee spot. While she can be a little unsure in brand-new environments, sheâs building confidence beautifully and blossoms with gentle encouragement and routine. At home, she enjoys enrichment activities like licki mats and puzzle toys, followed by cozy naps close to her people. Sheâs eager to please, knows her âsit,â and responds well to kind guidanceâmaking her a wonderful mix of energy and cuddle-bug.
Guguâs ideal home is one where sheâs truly part of the family. A backyard for zoomies would make her over the moon, as would a comfy bed (or two!) nearby for relaxing after playtime. Sheâd suit an active household that can include her in daily life, and sheâd do best with a calm, easygoing dog companion whoâs happy to give her a little space as she continues learning to share all the love she treasures. With her gentle nature, she could also do well with older children who understand her enthusiastic spirit. If youâre looking for a loyal, entertaining, and deeply affectionate companion, Gugu is ready to fill your days with laughter, love, and plenty of squeaky toys!
(Gugu's name is short for Gugulethu, which means Treasure in Zulu, Xhosa, and Ndebele, a tie back to Gugu's foster carer's South African heritage).

Adoption details
STEP 1 â ENQUIRE & EOI FORM:

If the greyhound you have applied for is unavailable or unsuitable, we can match you with a suitable greyhound. We may have a hound in foster care who might be well suited to your family.
STEP 2 â LET'S CHAT:
We'll phone you to discuss suitability, clarify any points of your application and chat process and next steps.
STEP 3 â HOUSE CHECK & MEET + GREET:
We'll come to you! The meet + greet is conducted at the same time that a house check is carried out. The meet + greet is the day that your newly adopted greyhound will be able to stay on with you.
Our adoption fee is $375.00 and must be paid before the meet + greet, and prior to starting your 3 week trial. Support from our team is freely available. If you have any issues, we urge you to contact us to try and work through them, as all rescue greyhounds have some period of adjustment.
If after the 3 week trial, you feel that you need to return the greyhound, we will refund your adoption fee (less a $50 administration fee), upon return of the dog and all paperwork and other items that the dog was adopted with.
All of our hounds are adopted out with the following:
> Collar, lead & coat
> Certificate of sterilisation & vaccination
> Flea & worm treated
> Care information for your newly adopted greyhound
> Access to our private Facebook page for foster carers, volunteers and adopters of our hounds. A community with invaluable advice and support!
