About MacHi
Machi might not have been the one pressing up against the glass at the shelter, but trust us, this boy had a whole secret personality just waiting for the right moment (and the right person) to shine.
When Machi first arrived in foster care, he kept himself tucked away in his safe space, quietly taking it all in. But give him a little time and a little patience, and everything changes. After a couple of weeks, he began to blossom .. and now? He's a chatty, curious, playful little character with a lot to say (and some very cute chirps to say it with).
Machi is the perfect mix of independent and affectionate. He's not clingy, but he will choose to be near you whether that's sitting beside you while you work, hanging out during TV time, or politely (okay, sometimes persistently) reminding you that it might be dinner o'clock.
And when it comes to playtime? Game on. Wand toys are his absolute favourite, and he's got plenty of energy to burn especially at night when his inner zoomies come alive and he redecorates just a little while you sleep.
He's also a certified foodie. Treats are his love language, which makes him easy to win over, but you'll need to keep snacks out of reach, because Machi is clever, curious, and not above a little food heist.
Machi isn't a fan of being picked up or over-handled and prefers affection on his own terms. Because of this, he's looking for a calm, quieter home where he can settle in at his own pace and continue building confidence. A home with some vertical space (like a cat tree) and someone who enjoys interactive play would be his dream setup.
The important thing to remember? The shy cat you see in the shelter isn't the whole story. Machi is living proof that with a little patience and understanding, you'll uncover a playful, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining companion.
Machi is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Machi - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
