About Ducky
FOSTER or ADOPT!
Ducky is approximately 5 months old. She (unconfirmed) was brought into care as a little squeaker with some mild neurological signs. She is extremely friendly and affectionate, will happily perch on you and refuse to get off, and gently preen your face.
She is currently unable to fly (she can get a few metres on the odd occasion), so she is looking for a human who has lots of time to spend with her practising her flight and supervising her out-of-cage time to ensure she is safe while she learns to use her wings.
She has been vet-checked and treated for common ailments, but will have another vet checkup and DNA sexing before she goes to her forever home.
FOR FOSTER APPLICANTS: All veterinary care and related costs, if required, will be covered by The Coo Initiative. Foster carers are only expected to provide daily care and a safe, supportive environment for Ducky. This will be outlined in our Foster Policy.
Apply now to organise a meet-and-greet with this sweet girl, and don't hesitate to send any questions to thecooinitiative@gmail.com
Medical notes
Ducky was brought into care as a juvenile displaying some mild neurological signs, including some bobbing movements when she turns or moves her head. As she had no other symptoms and her history was unknown, it is unclear whether this was caused by an illness or trauma. This has affected her flight; most days she cannot get liftoff (as much as she tries!), but on the odd occasion she can get a few metres! Her balance, coordination, and sight are not affected by her head movements. She has otherwise been vet-checked and treated for common ailments.
I would love Ducky to go to a home where her human can spend lots of time with her practising her flying and can supervise her out-of-cage time to maintain her safety while she learns to use her wings.
