Meet Lexie (Alexander Cervantes)
Lexie—also known more formally as Alexander Cervantes—is a gentle, affectionate soul who is simply looking for a place to belong. After finding his way into the pound and losing track of his previous home, Lexie is ready for a fresh start with a family who will love him for life.
Personality & Temperament
Lexie is a beautifully quiet dog who thrives on companionship. He adores being around people and loves to feel included in daily life, whether that’s relaxing at home, going for a drive, or enjoying a cuddle on the couch. While he prefers company, he handles short periods alone without anxiety.
He’s friendly with other dogs and enjoys meeting them, though he would do best with a calm, confident canine companion. Very excitable dogs can overwhelm him a little, so a relaxed furry friend would be ideal.
Training & Behaviour
Lexie responds well to routine and predictability, which helps him feel secure and settled. He already knows some basic commands like sit, wait, stay, and no, and he rarely barks—usually only when there’s a good reason.
On walks, Lexie can sometimes get a bit excited when he sees other dogs and may pull or vocalise to say hello. With a little ongoing training and guidance, he will continue to improve and gain confidence in these situations.
Lifestyle & Needs
- Enjoys daily walks and short outings
- Loves car rides and travels beautifully
- Would suit a home where someone is around much of the day, or with another calm dog
- Thrives in a structured, predictable environment
- Lexie is house-trained and very well-mannered in the home. He’s comfortable being handled and is fine with being picked up.
Lexie’s one quirky trait? He’s an enthusiastic snorer! He currently sleeps peacefully beside his carer’s bed and doesn’t stir through the night.
The Perfect Home
Lexie would love a home where he can be part of the family, included in everyday life, and given the love and stability he deserves. In return, he’ll offer endless affection, loyalty, and companionship.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
Medical notes
Weight: 16.4kg. Alex has a grade 3 heart murmur and some other issues we are currently sorting.
Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
