About Basil
š¾ Meet Basil!
Basil has been waiting in the shelter for 8 months for the right person to see just how special he is.
Heās a very large, strong boy with a gentle, affectionate side, and while he can take a little time to warm up, once he knows you heās an absolute sweetheart.
š¾ Getting to know Basil:
⢠Very large and strong
⢠Sweet and affectionate with people once he feels comfortable
⢠Loves pats, butt scratches and belly rubs
⢠Enjoys sniff walks and exploring his surroundings
⢠Doesnāt jump up
⢠Can seem a little indifferent at first, often more interested in sniffing the yard than making friends straight away.
Basil likes to take things in at his own pace when meeting new people. He can be a bit oblivious at first, happily wandering around and investigating the world, but once heās settled heāll start seeking out affection and showing his softer side.
š¾ What kind of home is Basil looking for?
Basil is best suited to a calm, adult-only home with someone experienced in handling large, strong dogs. Heāll thrive with an adopter who can offer patience, consistency and clear guidance while he adjusts to life outside the shelter.
Shelter life can be overwhelming, and Basil will benefit from a home thatās prepared to let him settle in gradually and support him as he builds confidence and routine.
š¾ Other important information:
Basil has previously lived with other dogs and may be able to live with a canine companion again, pending a successful meet and greet.
š¾ Basilās ideal match:
Basil is searching for someone who understands that some dogs need a little time, structure and patience to settle in, and who can look past first impressions to see the big softy underneath. If youāve got experience with large dogs and are ready to help Basil navigate the next chapter of his life, he could be a very special best friend in return.
If you think you could give Basil the calm, understanding home he needs, weād love to hear from you.
