About Mouse
Mouse isn’t just looking for a home — he’s looking for his person.
Mouse is a 3-year-old Black and Tan Coonhound with everything you’d expect from the breed – a nose that never stops working, a love of a good sniff, bursts of joyful zoomies, and a classic hound horn that he plays when he’s excited (his beautiful baying howl!).
He is an absolute sweetheart. Mouse is a goofy, affectionate boy who loves nothing more than leaning into his people for cuddles, snoozing on his bed, having his belly rubbed, and chewing happily on his favourite toys. Yes, there will be a bit of slobber! At home, he is calm, gentle and content, spending most of his day snoozing, exploring the house with his nose, enjoying enrichment toys and soaking up affection when he wants to. He thrives in a quiet, predictable environment and bonds deeply once he feels safe.
Mouse generally does well with other dogs and has had positive or neutral interactions. He would suit a home with a calm, confident dog/s to help guide him, or he could be just as happy as a solo dog with dedicated human companionship. He can be a bit of a silly boy and doesn’t always know his size, so he will benefit from someone physically capable who can provide clear guidance and help him develop good manners.
Mouse is looking for a very specific kind of home where he can truly relax and grow in confidence – a calm, low-traffic household with no young children, a large secure yard where he can safely sniff and explore, and an experienced owner (ideally familiar with hounds, XL dogs or anxious dogs) who is home often and committed to slow, gentle introductions to the world. He is currently being walked using a Halti collar which is proving to be a success. On walks he is doing really well, he is calm with other dogs and not phased by people / bikes etc.
Fit, young, and eager to please, Mouse is intelligent, food-motivated, playful, and affectionate. And yes… those ears are something special.
Medical notes
Mouse is desexed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations and parasite control.
He is in perfect health.
