Meet Vera! 💛
Vera is a beautiful 5-year-old tortoiseshell domestic cat with a story that will truly touch your heart. She was found wandering the streets, unwell and clearly struggling, desperately visiting neighbouring homes as if asking for help—hoping someone would notice her pain and care enough to save her.
Thankfully, a kind-hearted woman did just that. She contacted the pound, and rangers quickly came to Vera’s rescue. By that time, Vera was in a very poor state—flat, sore, and battling a serious infection. She urgently needed life-saving surgery to treat an infection in her uterus, and she was desexed promptly at the vet.
Despite everything she’s endured, Vera’s spirit has remained incredibly gentle and loving. She is truly a sweet soul—quiet, gracious, and so willing to trust again. At times, she may retreat into her shell like a little turtle, but underneath is the softest, most affectionate girl who just wants to feel safe and cherished.
After surviving life on the streets and serious illness, Vera has never truly had someone in her corner—and she craves that connection more than anything. She would thrive in a calm, understanding home where she can continue to come out of her shell at her own pace. Vera could happily live with a friendly, desexed male cat or enjoy being the centre of attention as a solo companion.
Now on the road to recovery, Vera is doing wonderfully—she’s eating well, using her litter perfectly, and gaining strength every day. While she’s still a little on the skinny side, she’s proven herself to be a brave fighter who just needed a chance.
Vera is now ready for her forever home—a place where she can finally be safe, spoiled, and loved the way she always deserved.

Adoption details
Call Queanbeyan Council on 1300 735 025 to be transferred through to an Animal care Officer that works at the facility. The animal care officer will take your details, send you an application form and if suitable make contact to book in a meet and greet at the facility with the desired pet.
Adoption fee cost:
When you purchase the animal they will either be desexed or the cost of desexing will be included in the fee. You will receive a voucher to take to a local vet to have the animal operated on. All animals adopted from our animal management facility receive free lifetime registration in NSW.
