About Ayla
Meet Ayla 💛
Ayla is a gentle, affectionate girl who just wants to be close to her people. She can be a little shy when first meeting you, but once she feels safe, her cuddly and loving personality really shines. She thrives on connection and will happily follow you around, always wanting to be part of whatever you’re doing.
We’ve been told Ayla is a mix of German Shepherd and Wolfhound, so she is expected to grow into a large, intelligent dog. She is already showing how clever she is, picking things up quickly and responding well to guidance. Because of this, she will need a home that has experience with dogs and is committed to ongoing training to help her reach her full potential.
She’s doing really well with her training and is eager to please. Toilet training is coming along nicely, and she will go outside on the grass during the day without any issues. At night she’s still a little unsure about going out in the dark, but with treats and encouragement she is making steady progress. She’s also learning her basic manners, happily sitting and waiting for her food, and continuing to improve with sitting on command.
Ayla is lovely to walk on the lead. She doesn’t pull and stays close, although she does have a cute habit of weaving between your feet at times, which will definitely keep you on your toes. Around people and children she is social, playful, and very affectionate, always wanting to be nearby and involved. She has been great with the resident dogs she knows, but does find unfamiliar dogs quite stressful, so she will need a home that can continue to support her with slow introductions and confidence building.
She has a fun, playful side and absolutely loves toys and chasing the ball. She’ll happily entertain herself and has a cheeky streak, even playfully taking on the mop during cleaning time. She’s also shown signs that she may enjoy water, as she handled bath time well and will follow her person straight into the shower.
Ayla has already come a long way with her confidence. Noises that initially worried her don’t bother her nearly as much now, which shows how well she responds to a calm and supportive environment.
She does find being left alone very stressful at this stage and has shown signs of anxiety when separated, even for short periods. She will need a home where someone is around most of the time and who is willing to continue working on building her independence slowly and positively. A stable dog may also be beneficially to the transition.
Ayla would suit a home with older children, as she enjoys playing but can be a little sensitive. While she is good with familiar dogs, she will need ongoing support around new ones. Her compatibility with cats is unknown, although she has shown no interest in chasing a bush turkey in the backyard. A secure yard is important, as she is able to slip through small gaps if given the opportunity.
Ayla is looking for a patient, committed, and experienced home that will continue guiding and training her as she grows in both size and confidence. In return, she will give you endless affection, loyalty, and the kind of companionship that comes from a dog who truly bonds with her people.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
