About Mochi
Say hello to Mochi, a beautiful 9-month-old Lagotto with a heart every bit as soft as her curly coat. This gorgeous young girl is incredibly affectionate and absolutely adores being close to her people. Beneath all that fluff is a sensitive, loving pup who is just trying to make sense of a world that can feel a little confusing at times.
Mochi is deaf, and while that is just one part of who she is, it does mean she can sometimes feel overwhelmed or unsure, especially in a busy shelter environment. Right now she is finding things pretty stressful and is doing her best to understand what is happening around her. Because of this, Mochi will need a home with someone patient, kind and committed to helping her feel safe, secure and understood. She may not hear your voice, but she is incredibly tuned in to people and will thrive with gentle guidance, routine and positive visual communication.
She is still very much a puppy, with all the fun, curiosity and cheekiness that comes with that. Mochi has plenty of energy, loves being involved in whatever you are doing, and is learning all about the world one moment at a time. She can be a little bouncy and excitable, so while she is a smaller dog, she is best suited to a home with secondary school-aged children who can respect her space and understand she is still learning her manners.
Mochi may be able to live with another tolerant dog, but just like people, not every dog is going to be her perfect match. Any resident dog will need to come in for a meet and greet to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable. With the right canine companion, she may really benefit from having another calm, confident dog around to help her settle in.
As a Lagotto, Mochi will also need an owner who is dedicated to keeping up with her grooming needs. Her beautiful curly coat will require regular grooming appointments as well as ongoing coat maintenance at home to keep her comfortable and looking her best. Her future family should be prepared for grooming to be a regular and important part of her care, not just an occasional treat.
What Mochi needs most is a home willing to see past the stress she is showing in care and give her the chance to blossom. She is not a "perfect straight away" kind of dog, but she is absolutely the kind of dog who will reward patience with deep love, loyalty and a very special bond. For the person willing to take the time to learn her language, Mochi has so much to give.
If you are looking for a sweet, sensitive and utterly lovable young dog to grow with, Mochi might just be your girl.
