About Paddy (68443)
Paddy is a sensitive and affectionate young hound cross who is looking for a calm, understanding home to help him build confidence and feel safe in the world. Paddy can be nervous when meeting new people-particularly men-and may take a little time to warm up. Once he feels comfortable, he forms strong bonds and shows his sweet, "sooky" nature, often leaning in close to his person for reassurance. He has come a long way while in care and continues to make steady progress, but Paddy will need a patient owner who can provide calm, consistent guidance and clear boundaries to help him grow in confidence and independence. Paddy can feel overwhelmed around other dogs and may react defensively, especially during face-to-face interactions. With structured introductions and the right support, he has shown he can settle, but he will do best as an only dog so he can continue to build confidence at his own pace. He is best suited to an adult-only home, as his sensitivities and anxiety would be too much in a busy or unpredictable environment. Paddy may also struggle being left alone for long periods, as he has always been closely bonded to his person. He will need a home where someone is around more often and can gradually help him become more independent. The good news-Paddy is house trained, knows some basic cues, and enjoys being part of daily life. He thrives when included in calm activities and guided by a confident handler he can trust. Paddy isn't a "plug-and-play" dog, but for the right person, he will be an incredibly rewarding companion. With patience, understanding, and structure, he has all the potential to blossom into a loyal and loving best friend
