About Cowboy
Howdy, partners! Put your hands up and surrender your hearts, because there’s a new outlaw in town—and he’s looking to trade his life on the run for a permanent ranch to call home. Meet Cowboy, the 2-year-old Staffy with a heart as big as the Outback.
Cowboy’s backstory is a bit of a mystery. He ended up in the local pound through no fault of his own before the posse at Forever Friends rode in to save him. Now, he’s looking for a Head Rancher to show him the ropes of being a "Good Boy."
🤠 The Stats
Age: 2 Years Young
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Vibe: High-energy adventurer with a sensitive soul.
Skills: Crate trained (sleeps like a log!), 100% toilet trained, and a professional at "the Staffy sing-along."
🤠 The "Wanted" Poster Details
The Million-Dollar Smile: Take one look at his photos and you’ll see it—Cowboy has the widest, sweetest grin in the West. It’s the kind of smile that lights up the whole homestead and tells you exactly how happy he is to see you.
The Cowboy Hug: This boy doesn't just lean on you; he’s a world-class snuggler. His signature move is wrapping his front legs right around you for a genuine hug. If you’re looking for a dog who truly wears his heart on his sleeve (and his paws on your shoulders), Cowboy is your man.
🐎 Life on the Trail (Training & Manners)
Cowboy didn't have much "schooling" before he arrived at his foster home, but he’s proving to be the sharpest tool in the shed. Because he is extremely food-driven, he is picking up training faster than a galloping stallion. He’s currently working on:
* Loose-leash walking (getting better every day!)
* Manners: Learning that "four on the floor" is better than jumping up.
* Boundaries: Understanding he needs an invitation before hopping onto the furniture.
🐕 Social Life & Round-ups
Cowboy is a social butterfly with other dogs. He loves a good game of chase, but he’s a respectful gentleman—if his playmate says "enough," Cowboy listens and backs off.
However, he is not suited for a home with cats (he’s got a bit too much "get up and go" for them) or young children/elderly folks, as his "happy dances" can be a bit too enthusiastic. Confident older kids who can handle a big, bouncy dog would be just fine!
❤️ The Sensitive Side
Despite his strong, confident look, Cowboy is a sensitive fellow. He sometimes flinches or cowers when reached for, suggesting his past life wasn't always kind. He needs a firm but gentle handler to show him how life is supposed to be. He’s also working on "settling his spurs"—sometimes he gets a bit over-excited, so he needs a patient owner to help him learn to keep his cool.
🚗 Adventures Await
While the car is currently a "scary monster" he has to be lifted into, once the wheels start turning, he’s all smiles. He knows that a car ride means a new adventure is beginning!
🏆 The Ideal Match
Cowboy would be a superstar in Obedience, Rally, or Trick Training. He wants a job to do, a person to please, and someone to catch his famous hugs. If you’re looking for a loyal, smart-as-a-whip companion who will be your absolute best friend once he knows he’s safe, Cowboy is ready to ride off into the sunset with you.
