Meet Hamish – A Bright Young Mind Ready to Shine
Hamish is a young purebred Border Collie (just without the paperwork!) with a classic dark blue and white coat and a thoughtful, intelligent expression that tells you straight away there’s a clever brain at work.
Born on 19 September 2025, Hamish is still very much a youngster, just starting out in life and looking for the right person to guide him as he grows.
Like many Border Collies, Hamish is naturally intelligent, sensitive and tuned in to the people around him. He has not had any formal training yet, but that sharp Border Collie mind means he is more than ready to learn — and in the right home, he is expected to come along beautifully.

A quick note on Border Collies
Border Collies are widely regarded as one of the most intelligent dog breeds in the world. They thrive on structure, mental stimulation and close connection with their people. With the right guidance, they are incredibly trainable, loyal and rewarding companions — but they do need time, engagement and purpose to truly flourish.

Hamish is not desexed, but his adoption fee includes the cost of desexing, subject to terms and conditions.

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
If you are interested in one of our cats or kittens, please click on the green "Enquire about ...", button, tell us a bit about yourself and the home you can offer the cat, and one of our volunteers will be in touch.
