About Lili
Lily is a delightful and laid-back 8-year-old canine companion who has the charming min Corgi X Jack Russell . She is a cheerful and carefree girl who absolutely adores being around her human family. Lily is particularly great with children and thrives in their company, making her an ideal addition to any household. If you’re in search of a low-maintenance dog, Lily is the perfect choice for you.
When Lily first came into our care, she was significantly overweight. However, she has been diligently working on her weight loss journey and is making excellent progress. Despite her commitment to shedding those extra pounds, she can’t resist the sound of a chip packet rustling and will come running with enthusiasm.
Lily has a few favorite things that bring her immense joy. She has a deep love for food, enjoys lounging in her cozy bed, and finds pure delight in rolling around on the grass. Additionally, she loves exploring the bushes and rustling through them.
In terms of her interaction with humans, Lily is friendly and sociable. She enjoys spending time with her family during the day and appreciates a gentle head pat or a belly rub. Lily has been living with primary school-aged children and has thoroughly enjoyed their company. She would seamlessly fit into any family dynamic, whether it’s a young family or a senior individual looking for a loyal companion. As she is not super high energy we feel she would do well with a retired family with grandkids.
When it comes to obedience and training, Lily is well-behaved and knows basic commands like sit and come. She is a polite house guest and ambles slowly during walks, taking her time to sniff and explore her surroundings.
In terms of her social skills with other animals, Lily is not particularly fond of other dogs. She tends to be fearful and uncomfortable around them, which can lead to barking when she sees them. However, with a calm and slow introduction, she can tolerate walking alongside a very calm dog, as long as they respect her space. It’s important to note that Lily prefers short walks, so this isn’t considered a major issue.
Lily is an independent little lady who is content to spend time alone outside. She may bark at passersby but is generally quite self-sufficient. Her independence makes her a great fit for a family that may not be home all day.
Regarding her diet, Lily has been on a strict regimen to aid in her weight loss journey. She still has about 1 kilogram to lose and has been eating a high-quality kibble and soft food mix. Her new family will need to be committed to maintaining her healthy weight.
Lily’s hygiene is easy to manage, thanks to her medium-length coat. However, she occasionally has accidents indoors, so she needs access to the outdoors for bathroom breaks.
When it comes to sleeping arrangements, Lily is quite adaptable. She sleeps independently and is perfectly content in her fluffy bed inside her kennel. While she can sleep indoors, she does need to use the toilet at night, so she typically sleeps outside in her kennel, which is undercover.
Lily is an excellent traveler and does well in the car. Although her previous owner mentioned car sickness, we have not observed any issues during her travels while in our care.
In terms of exercise, Lily enjoys short walks and is easy to handle. She has a slightly deformed front paw, which has been present since birth, so we keep her walks brief, especially given her past weight issues. Two short 10-minute walks are more than sufficient for this little lady.
Inside the home, Lily is quiet and well-mannered. She often comes and sits near you, making her a polite house guest.
Lily does have a few medical considerations. She has a deformed leg from birth, so managing her weight and ensuring short walks without steps in the home is essential. She has had her teeth cleaned, is desexed, vaccinated, and chipped. Blood tests have shown some minor abnormalities, but the vet suggested annual check-ups and blood work, which is not uncommon for senior dogs. Otherwise Lilly is in great shape for her age
The ideal home for Lily would be one where she can enjoy easy-going companionship. A home with a small of lawn for her to indulge in her favorite grass-rolling activities would be perfect. Her new family should be committed to continuing her weight loss journey and enjoy short, leisurely walks. It’s important to manage her dislike of other dogs and avoid putting her in uncomfortable situations. A secure yard
Lilly would suit a family with kids but understand she is not a high energy dog
A senior person would be ideal
Lilly requires a home with minimal steps to reduce the pressure on her fount leg as she ages
