About Pepper
Meet Pepper, a young mum who has already had a tough start to life. She was found living on the street with her three newborn kittens at only 8 months old herself. She spent 10 weeks nurturing her babies and preparing them for going out into the big wide world. All her babies have found happy homes and now Pepper is in foster care learning that the world can be a safer place, waiting—quietly and cautiously—for someone willing to give her the same chance.
Pepper is a shy and wary cat who will take time to trust a new person. She is naturally fearful and will avoid contact with people she doesn’t know, often choosing to hide rather than engage. In foster care, she has slowly built a bond with one of her carers and generally shows a preference for males. Pepper will now accept gentle head pats and back scratches—but this progress has taken weeks of patience, consistency, and respect for her boundaries. Pepper seems to want and seeks out companionship and affection, but then shies away from it when given. Any relationship with Pepper will develop slowly, in small but meaningful steps.
Because of her history and temperament, Pepper is looking for an experienced adopter who truly understands shy, fearful cats and is prepared for a long, gradual journey. Her ideal home would be calm, quiet, and predictable, with someone who has no expectations of quick affection and is willing to let trust grow over weeks or even months. With time, space, and a great deal of patience, Pepper has the potential to form a deep bond—but she will only thrive with someone who can meet her where she is and value progress measured in tiny victories.
If you think you have what it takes to give Pepper a safe home, we would love to hear from you. If you have the skills and experience to help Pepper, but are not ready to adopt, then please reach out for a foster opportunity. Even short term arrangements with the right person, could help this girl.
Pepper comes microchipped, desexed, vaccinated and perfectly litter trained. As a house cat she is very low maintenance and not fussy. She has two small meals a day and doesn’t cause any mischief. She makes very cute squeaky soft cooing and chirping noises and is not demanding.
Pepper is an indoor only cat.
