About Poppy
Maisie and Micah are two young black cats who have already had to overcome more than most. When they first arrived, they had experienced little to no socialisation, and the world felt like a very big, very scary place. Everything was unfamiliar, overwhelming and frightening.
But instead of giving up, these two have been quietly, bravely doing the work. With time, patience, and the support of dedicated staff, Maisie and Micah have been slowly building confidence and learning that people can be kind, safe and worth trusting.
They are still a work in progress, and that's exactly why they deserve someone special. Someone who understands that not every cat arrives ready to be bold, outgoing and instantly cuddly. Some cats need a little extra time. Some cats need someone willing to see not just who they are now, but who they are trying so hard to become.
And if we're being honest - black cats like Maisie and Micah are so often the ones overlooked in shelters. They are statistically among the last to be chosen, passed over again and again simply because they don't stand out in a sea of other cats. But behind those glossy black coats are two young cats who deserve the same chance as everyone else.
Without programs like Rescue and Rehome, cats like Maisie and Micah may not always get the opportunity to keep growing, healing and finding the homes they deserve. They are exactly why these pathways matter ... because some cats just need a little more time, and a little more belief.
Maisie and Micah are looking for quiet, patient and understanding homes that will continue the work that's already begun and let them settle in at their own pace. While they have shared this part of their journey together, they do not need to be adopted together and can absolutely be rehomed separately into the right homes.
The lucky person who gives one, or both, of them a chance won't just be adopting a cat. They'll be changing a life forever.
They may not be the cats who rush to the front and demand attention.
But they are the cats who deserve to finally be chosen.
Maisie and Micah is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Maise or Micah (or both) - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
