About Charlie
🌧️ From Floodwaters to Fresh Starts:
Charlie, Danny, Dusty, Emma, Geri & Lacey.
These six beautiful pups have already weathered more in their short lives than most dogs ever will. Abandoned during the Bundaberg floods, they were found suffering severe neglect and malnourishment. Their tiny bellies were full of worms, and they battled multiple nasty parasites - but despite it all, they never stopped fighting.
Today, with proper care and love, they are finally on the road to wellness. They are proving just how tough, resilient, and full of heart they truly are.
💛 A Strong, Loving Little Pack
Because they've survived so much together, these pups have been heavily reliant on one another for comfort and security. As they transition into new homes, they'll need patient, gentle guardians who understand that trust takes time and consistency.
We do not believe in the myth that puppies should be left to "cry it out" when distressed. These little ones have experienced enough fear already.
Instead, we recommend that alone time is introduced slowly and reassuringly, helping them learn that humans can be trusted to return.
🏡 What These Puppies Need
To grow into confident, emotionally secure adults, these pups will need:
* Consistency, routine, and predictability
* Kind, positive reinforcement
* Plenty of affection and reassurance
* Indoor access so they can truly be part of the family
* Safe spaces where they can decompress and feel protected
They will be wonderful lifelong family members for homes willing to provide the love, patience, and safety they deserve.
Important Puppy Notes for Adopters
🐶 Settling In
All pups need time to adjust. Expect a few days to weeks of decompression as they learn your home, schedule, and family rhythms.
🌙 Managing Their Space
Create a cosy, contained area (pen, gated space, or safe room) where they can rest, chew, and observe the household without feeling overwhelmed.
🦈 Baby Sharks Are Bitey
All puppies explore with their mouths - especially when teething. Redirecting to appropriate chew toys, using positive reinforcement, and maintaining calm consistency are key.
🚽 Toilet Training Takes Time
Accidents are normal! With patience, routine toilet breaks, and positive praise for successes, they'll pick it up.
🌏 Socialising Is Essential
Puppies need safe, appropriate socialisation with people, places, sounds, animals, and surfaces to grow into confident adult dogs.
This must always be done positively and gradually.
🌟 Ready for Their Happily‑Ever‑After
These flood‑survivor pups are living proof of resilience and the power of care. With the right homes, they'll flourish into loyal, loving companions who bring joy to every day.
