Teddy - 6 Month Old Mastiff X

Teddy is a beautiful 6-month-old male Mastiff X who has come into our care from the wonderful team at Muswellbrook Animal Shelter. They have taken great care of him and his two brothers, Tommy and Timmy, and now it’s time for these lovely boys to find homes of their own.

Teddy is a sweet, affectionate puppy who is being raised in a home environment. He currently lives with two large breed dogs and absolutely adores them he plays gently and really looks to them for reassurance and guidance. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but he quickly warms up with a few treats and a gentle approach. He loves his food and enjoys a cuddle, so building trust with him is easy and rewarding.

Teddy is expected to grow into a medium to large dog. As he hasn’t had the easiest start, he will benefit from continued socialisation to help build his confidence as he matures. He enjoys being involved in daily life and is starting to show a playful, curious nature he just needs a bit of encouragement. He loves chasing a ball and has already learnt to sit for his dinner, although he can still get a little excited at mealtimes.

A home with a calm, friendly adult dog would be ideal. Teddy thrives with canine companionship and learns well from other dogs, provided they are gentle and placid. If there isn’t another dog in the home, we would prefer a household where someone is home more often than not, as he does best with company. Teddy should be welcomed indoors when people are home. He is happy to spend time outside during the day but is not suited to living outdoors full time. He sleeps well overnight in a large crate and is learning to settle on an indoor dog bed. He will make a lovely family dog and is best suited to homes with children aged 8 years and older.

Secure fencing is essential, with no small gaps rural-style fencing such as mesh or wire is not suitable. Teddy is also very interested in chickens, so a home without birds is important.

Teddy's adoption fee is $600 which includes his desexing when he is old enough. It also includes his first two vaccinations. He has been treated for fleas and worms, and is microchipped.

Teddy is in foster care in Glendale, NSW. Since he is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock) plus Central Coast and Sydney. He'll need to be returned to one of our approved vets for desexing in April 2026.
