About Roman
Meet Roman, a black male Kelpie who is an active, playful young boy. -He has come from a hoarding situation so has likely missed out on some important socialistation to everyday household items and sounds. Due to this he can be unsure in some new environments and will require a patient owner who will allow him a little extra time to settle into the home. He absolutely LOVES his toys and will play with them on his own so it's best to provide a variety of toys, changing them out regularly so that he does not become bored. Roman will thrive with continued training in his new home. While he does not seem to know his Sit and other commands, you'll need to start with the basics, but as you know Kelpies are smart cookies so he should pick up the commands quickly. Once he is settled into the home environment he may become jumpy/aroused. Work on 4 paws, rewarding wanted behaviours and ignoring or redirecting unwanted ones. Provide a variety of food-based enrichment to keep his mind active. Milk bottles, egg cartons and snuffle boxes are great ideas but the options are endless. He has shown some barrier reactivity in the Care Centre to other dogs, so we recommend no front yard access, and no small animals. Roman will need to meet other dogs at time of adoption. Has demonstrated social and friendly behaviour with his intereactions here and will likely benefit from having another doggie friend in the home.
