Meet Eddie:
Eddie is the cuddliest, snuggliest boy who will steal your heart with his affectionate nature. If you're sitting down on the ground, he will want to sit right on you—he can be held like a big baby and absolutely loves being close to his people. When he's comfortable, Eddie is the chillest dog around, happily lounging in the backyard basking in the sun or snuggling up next to you on the couch.
Eddie is a 6-month-old Cattle Dog x, like any puppy, Eddie is still very much in the chewing phase, so be mindful of shoes and any other items left outside that you don't want bite marks on!
Eddie has a wonderful, affectionate personality and bonds strongly with his people. He gets along well with his foster dog sister and loves to play with her in the backyard. However, he needs socialisation with other dogs as he can get excited and anxious around unfamiliar dogs when meeting them for the first time, particularly on walks or in new situations.
With Other Animals and Children Eddie currently lives with two children under five and has been wonderful with them. He has been introduced to a cat and is very curious about them. He does not harass the chickens in their cage, but it would be best to avoid him interacting with them more closely unless you train him that they are to be left alone.
Eddie has primarily been an outside dog, but the times he has come inside, after an initial sniff of everything, he is keen to jump on the couch and sit next to you. He is well-behaved in his crate and currently sleeps in it all night without any accidents.
Eddie has a keen mind and has been learning basic commands like sit and down. He loves to walk and will happily join you for a jog, but he is still learning proper leash walking etiquette. He would greatly benefit from one-on-one training to help him develop his skills and reach his full potential.
Eddie is a moderate to high energy puppy who enjoys playtime in the backyard and daily walks or jogs. When he's had his exercise and is comfortable, he's happy to lounge around and relax.
Eddie travels in a crate in the car but has vomited a couple of times during travel. He may benefit from shorter trips initially or medication for car sickness.
Eddie would thrive in a home with an dog owner who understands puppy energy and the commitment required for training and socialisation. Someone with the time and patience to work on his leash manners, continue his obedience training, and help him build confidence around unfamiliar dogs would be ideal. A home with secure fencing and space for him to play and burn off his puppy energy would be perfect. He would do well in a home with or without children, and potentially with another calm, confident dog who can be a good role model for him.
