About Hamish
Hamish – Sweet 8-Year-Old Ginger Boy Looking for His Forever Home.
Meet Hamish, an affectionate, gentle, and wonderfully low-maintenance ginger short-haired cat who is ready to fill a home with quiet love and companionship.
At 8 years young, Hamish is in excellent health and thrives as a purely indoor cat. He is deaf (a result of a difficult start in life before he was rescued at just three weeks old from an abandoned farmhouse in Nar Nar Goon), but this doesn’t slow him down at all. He’s remarkably healthy, content, and has a calm, sweet nature that makes him a joy to live with.
Hamish is incredibly affectionate and loving. He enjoys quiet cuddles, gentle pets, and being near his people. Because he’s low maintenance and independent, he’s the perfect companion for someone who wants a loving cat without high demands. His gentle personality means he would make a wonderful addition to almost any home — especially one where his people are home often and can give him the company he quietly enjoys.
He previously lived with a dog and tolerated him well. While we don’t know how he is with other cats, his calm and gentle nature suggests he would likely do well with slow, careful introductions. Please note: Hamish would not be suited to a household with young children, as his deafness means he can’t hear approaching footsteps or sudden movements, which could startle him.
Hamish loves soaking up the sun in a safe, supervised backyard or on a windowsill. Because he can’t hear traffic his new home needs to have a secure backyard where he can soak up the sun safely.
He’s funny and endearing and he does notice some loud sounds like the dog barking or sudden bangs, but you can sometimes sneak up on him without him noticing, which only adds to his adorable charm.
His previous owners describe him as a “lovely cat” and are heartbroken to rehome him, but their changing family circumstances (full-time work, frequent travel between homes, and the arrival of a new grandchild) mean they can no longer give him the consistent, calm environment he deserves.
They are hoping for a cat-loving household that can provide the stable, peaceful home Hamish has always known.
If you’re a gentle, cat-loving person or couple who is often home and would love a sweet, affectionate ginger boy to share your life with, Hamish could be the perfect match. He’s ready to settle into a quiet, loving home where he can continue being the gentle, low-maintenance companion he’s always been.
Hamish is approximately 8 years old, has been desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, and is ready to find his new forever family right mewo.
If you think you have the room in your heart and your home to provide this gorgeous little soul with a great life please let us know and we’ll be more than happy to arrange a time for you to meet and fall in love with him.

About Us
Urban Feline Australia is a small, independent cat rescue dedicated to saving surrendered cats from kill shelters and finding them loving, permanent homes.
Founded and run by a passionate animal lover with the support of dedicated friends and volunteers, we specialise in caring for cats that have previously lived in family homes but, for various reasons, can no longer stay with their owners.
Since our inception, we have been fortunate to build a small but dedicated network of volunteer foster carers. These compassionate individuals welcome the surrendered cats into their homes, providing them with love, care, and a safe environment while we search for their perfect forever families.
As a tiny, grassroots rescue with no government funding or large facilities, every rescue is powered by compassion, community support, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare.
All adoption fees and donations go directly toward the essential needs of the cats in our care — including premium food, veterinary treatment, litter, equipment, and ongoing medical support. We rely heavily on the generosity of our foster carers, volunteers, and supporters to continue our work.
Our long-term vision is to expand so we can help even more cats in need. This includes securing a larger dedicated property and, one day, possibly opening a cat café to raise awareness and funds while creating a welcoming space for cat lovers.

We are always in need of foster carers. If you have a safe, loving temporary home and would like to help us care for a cat on their journey to their forever family, please get in touch. The more foster homes we have, the more cats we can save.

Adoption details
We try to make things very easy and straight forward while at the same time making sure we are matching the right cat to the right home.
The first step in the adoption process is a quick chat over the phone to make you are able meet the cats needs and your home is a good fit for the cats personality.
From there we will organize a meet and greet the cats foster home where you will be able to see the cat in action and get a gauge of their personality.
Once you have adopted you new furry feline friend we offer ongoing support and you are welcome to contact us anytime if you have questions, concerns or need advice.
We work hard to make sure that each cat is a good fit for their new home but in the unlikely even that things do not work out we have a 21 day cooling off period and you are more than welcome to return the cat to us during that time.
We will happily refund 50% of the adoption fee or you are welcome to donate this refund to assist with the ongoing cost of the animals care.
