About Scarlet
Scarlet is a lovely ten month old long coat German Shepherd who is coming into our care.
Scarlet was living with an older male German Shepherd and a smaller male dog.
Scarlet is a switched on dog looking for instruction and is very engaged and constantly looking for direction from the handler, and walks nicely on a lead.
Scarlet is a young dog that hasn't had many life experiences and mostly left in a back yard so she is now looking for a home with experience with this amazing breed so she can learn and experience life.
Being a young dog she is loving human company and is great with dogs she has met. We are unable to test her with cats or pocket pets.
Scarlet will require an experienced German Shepherd owner who will place structure in her life and maintain boundaries to help her develop confidence in her new environment with human interactions.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long and is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Scarlet is currently available for adoption in NSW, ACT, Queensland and Victoria. If you're interested in making her a cherished member of your family, you'll need to drive with your loved ones to meet her. Should she, for any reason, not be the perfect fit for your family, you would be responsible for either bringing her back to Sydney or helping us rehome her from your home.
If you have recently owned a German Shepherd or large breed dog, and understand German Shepherd and think you have the commitment to give her a new home, then please select the "Enquire about Scarlet" and we will send you an application form or go to our website and complete the application form.

Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
Post Adoption Life: With all dog it is important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these dogs have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours and reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to three months to properly decompress from post-shelter life and a lot of behaviours and quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind and are patient.
