Dory

Hi... I'm Dory.

I might not be the first to run up and say hello. I like to take a little moment, just to make sure everything feels safe and gentle. The world has been a big, confusing place for me at times, and I've learned to be a quiet observer before I let my heart step forward. But once I do... oh, I promise there's something very special waiting underneath.

I came into care with my four tiny babies, and they were my whole world. I watched over them, kept them warm, and made sure they had everything they needed to grow strong and brave. They've all started their own journeys now, finding their own families, and I couldn't be prouder of them. I did my job as their mum. Now... it's my turn.

I've been in foster care for a little while, learning what it feels like to be safe, to have soft places to rest, and kind hands that don't expect too much too quickly. I've discovered that I really like quiet company. Sitting nearby while you read, or watching the world go by from a cozy window spot. I'm not loud about my love, but it's there, steady and real.

If you're patient with me, I'll start to come closer. Maybe I'll brush past your leg, or curl up not too far away. And one day, without you even noticing when it changed, I'll trust you completely.

I'm not looking for a busy or noisy life. I'm hoping for something calm and for someone to take a chance on me. Until then, I'll just keep swimming, just keep swimming.
