About Brutus
Introducing Brutus!
Brutus is a Stumpy Tail Cattle x Wolfhound x born 20th September 2024.
Brutus & his brother were brought into the facility as strays & their owner has refused to pick them up as she can't keep them secure with their mesh fencing.
When they came to us both boys were incredibly nervous & standoff-ish with staff, however as the days go on we've manage to break through so many barriers with them & they're starting to let their true personalities shine. We have also noticed that Brutus is toilet trained.
While Brutus can still be a little head shy & cringe if you move too quickly near him, he has come so far in the week he's been with us. He now walks on lead, will sit for food & treats, he knows what "gentle" means when taking treats, he very rarely barks now and he's slowly learning that a humans touch can be gentle & loving. We've even noticed that when his favourite people sit on the ground with him he's starting to step onto their laps & smother them with kisses.
Brutus tested quite well with both male & female dogs. While he wasn't overly playful, he was very intrigued by them and was sniffing them from head to toe. As he was being tested as an undesexed male, it wasn't a surprise that he was a little too interested in our undesexed female. Brutus is mostly unfazed when walking past other dogs, however (understandably) he can get defensive when other dogs try to attack him. We believe Brutus could be suitable to live with another dog (preferably a more submissive dog), or be the spoilt "only child" at home. If you have a friendly dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Brutus was quite scared of our resident cat & was completely unfazed by pocket pets. We believe Brutus could be suitable to live with small animals if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Brutus has shown no signs of food aggression since being at the facility.
When Brutus & his brother were brought into the facility, they both showed a great deal of anxiety when they were separated, however since we've had them in their own kennels this has greatly improved. We know that Brutus & Spencer were able to escape their yard in their previous home so he will need to have very secure fencing if he's left outside when you go out, alternatively he may be more comfortable being left inside or in a secured area like a laundry or enclosed pen.
To enquire more or to meet Brutus, please contact our friendly staff via email at ccacfpetadoptions@gmail.com or 0499 900272 to organise a meet and greet.
His adoption fee is $500 & this includes his desexing, vaccination and lifetime registration. He is also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Brutus is currently located in East Maitland.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
