Meet Bailey, a beautiful 14-month-old German Shepherd who has been in our care for a little while now.
When Bailey was 9 months old it was discovered that she had a ventricular heart arrythmia common in German Shepherds. In a lot of cases, this condition can self-resolve by the age of 2, and Bailey’s most recent ECG and Echocardiogram suggested it is heading in that direction. Bailey will need regular check-ups and tests to determine how her condition is progressing. GSRV will provide full support to Bailey and her new family to ensure she gets any treatment she needs for this condition.
Bailey still lives a very normal life considering her condition, the only way we knew that anything was wrong is that her oxygen levels and heart rate dropped when she was under anaesthetic to be speyed, this has now been delayed until she reaches the age of 2 to reduce the risk of any complications.
Bailey is otherwise a typical teenager that loves life and lives it to the fullest; she is a bouncy, exuberant girl that lives an active lifestyle. Bailey currently lives on a large property and spends her days helping out with farm chores and running amuck like all teenagers do! Bailey is looking for an active home where she has plenty of space to run around, this girl loves doing Zoomies and playing fetch, she is not suited to a small yard.
Bailey knows her basic commands and has decent recall, however at times she can still show typical puppy behaviours such as jumping up and mouthing when frustrated or overstimulated – this has improved dramatically. Bailey thrives when given clear boundaries and guidance, she would do well with ongoing obedience training to fine-tune her manners and skills. Bailey is best suited to a home where everyone is over the age of 8.
Bailey enjoys the company of other dogs, she can be a little reactive at first barking and jumping towards them, however this comes from a place of frustration and wanting to say hello. Bailey will need to work on keeping calm when she sees others out on walks, sometimes she will ignore others especially when they ignore her, but once she decides that she wants to meet a friend, she lets everyone know.
Bailey loves to play with other dogs and plays rough if given the opportunity, she has decent social skills and listens when other dogs have had enough. Bailey would love to live with a desexed, large breed male dog, she would also be fine as the only dog in her new home.
Bailey can fixate a little on small animals, including small dogs, when introduced carefully she likes to play and hang out, but if they run, she will chase. Bailey isn’t suited to a home with cats or other small pets and will need to be on lead around small dogs.
Bailey has been integrated with livestock; part of her daily routine is to go and give her alpaca and sheep friend a kiss on the nose through the fence. This has been a gradual process, and her new home must be prepared to slowly integrate Bailey with other animals.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
