Daphne is a beautiful 5-year-old black German Shepherd with a gentle heart and so much love to give. Sadly, life hasn’t been very stable for Daphne and she has lived in multiple homes, never quite finding the place where she truly belongs. What she wants most now is a forever family who will love her unconditionally and give her the security she’s been missing. We are determined that Daphne’s next home will finally be her last.
Daphne is a friendly, affectionate girl who enjoys meeting new people and will happily soak up all the pats she can get. Like many German Shepherds, she’s a true “German Shadow” who simply wants to be wherever her humans are. While she can happily meet children out and about, younger kids in the home can be a bit overwhelming for her and she tends to become overstimulated trying to round them up. Because of this, Daphne is looking for a home with children over 8 years old and people who have experience with large breed dogs.
Daphne is also quite the adventurer, she enjoys getting out and about and loves having time to play in the yard. You’ll often find her proudly carrying around a toy, hoping someone will join in the fun. She’s the ultimate soccer dog and would happily spend time running, chasing, and playing games with her family. Daphne would thrive with an active household that will give her daily exercise and a yard where she has space to stretch her legs.
Daphne is a clever girl who already knows her basic commands and truly enjoys learning new things. She walks beautifully on lead when there aren’t distractions, though she is still building her confidence and focus in busier environments. Continued training will help her flourish, and she may even enjoy exploring dog sports with the right person by her side.
Daphne is a good girl in the home, she settles inside beautifully and will sleep on the couch; she wants to be invited inside the home and included as a member of the family; she doesn’t like being locked outside when she knows people are home. During the day Daphne waits patiently for her people to come home, enrichment toys keep her mentally stimulated and out of mischief, she loves figuring out puzzles.
Daphne has had mixed experiences with other dogs. While she has been able to meet some dogs successfully with slow introductions in the past, she has recently been finding these interactions more challenging and will bark and react when seeing other dogs on walks. Daphne will need to work on her dog socialisation in her new home, she is a work in progress and would benefit from working with a trainer so that both Daphne and her human can learn how to build her confidence and focus.
Daphne needs to be the only pet in her new home, she has shown an interest in chasing cats and birds, we are looking for a home where she is kept separate to any other animals.
Daphne is a loyal, loving girl who adores a cuddle and will never say no to a treat, she is a devoted companion who simply wants someone to love her as much as she will love them. For the right family, Daphne will be an incredibly rewarding and faithful friend, she’s waited a long time to find her forever home… maybe that home could be yours!

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
