NAME: Cash

BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound.

BREED: Chihuahua x
BREED TRAITS: Chihuahua's love to be with their people and are definitely companion dogs that do not like to be left alone, They are sensitive, and can be aloof or wary of strangers and other dogs so early socialisation is very important. Chihuahuas cannot tolerate cold or hot weather so a warm coat in the winter and care re overheating in the summer is needed - they are not outside dogs. They are bright and wilful but will learn if you make it fun and although small, have big personalities.

ASSETS: He’s easy going, affectionate, friendly, obedient, sweet and playful! Cash is a gorgeous boy who has a ton of love to give to his new family.

FAVOURITE THINGS: Cash loves to run around in the back yard and play fetch with his ball. He also enjoys playing with toys and having playtime with other dogs, as well as lying on the lounge. He has a couple of favourite toys, a purple teddy and a brown rabbit, and loves to have a heat pack for bedtime!

ENDEARING FEATURES: He’s a very easy going, smart boy who gets along with everyone. He’ll happily follow you round the house and garden while you go about your day. He loves cuddles and attention.

OTHER ANIMALS: He gets on well with other friendly dogs after gentle introduction and loves their company and to play with them. He could live with another friendly dog who also loves to interact after gentle, supervised introductions. He hasn’t been tested around cats as yet.

GENERAL INFO: Cash will need some lead training as it’s unfamiliar to him at present. He is housetrained and rarely barks. He is well behaved in the house and loves to be with you indoors in the evenings. He enjoys rides in the car as he loves to be part of your day. He doesn’t like to be left alone and can be a bit protective over his food, toys and any treats, so this will need to be managed and worked on in the home. For this reason, he will need dog savvy owners who can set boundaries. Cash is crate trained and knows that it’s his safe space. He knows a few commands and is a smart cookie so with some daily dedicated command training it should be a breeze for him.

ESSENTIALS for Cash:

** An active, loving home, Cash loves company so would prefer a home where someone is home for at least part of the day, or can take him with them when they leave the house.

** Cash needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.

** Cash loves to be with his people so he needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night.

Cash could settle in a home with dog-savvy older children (teenagers) who will treat him gently, not treat him like a toy and respect his space, or an adult only home.
